Girl showing off her Allbirds tree Breezers

Warm weather has come to New York City, and a girl is very happy about this. With Spring making its debut, I’m looking forward to spending more time outdoors and on my feet. That being said, it can sometimes be difficult to find shoes that are up to that kind of challenge. Not only in comfortability but in looks as well. Lucky for me, I was able to find both in the newest Allbirds silhouette, The Tree Breezers which is their take on the classic ballet flat.

If you haven’t heard of Allbirds, no worries. I’m here to tell you all about them. Allbirds is a San Francisco based brand who make their shoes with natural materials which include merino wool from New Zealand, tree fiber, sugarcane, castor bean oil, recycled bottles and cardboards, etc. They first made their mark in Silicon Valley with the tech community and quickly spread to everyone wearing them, which I can totally understand because they are extremely comfortable.

I got the Tree Breezer in the Nikau Seashell color and my first impression of them was how lightweight they were. They are made of breathable eucalyptus tree fiber, and I was a little worried that it wouldn’t be comfortable just because it looked like it didn’t have enough material to be comfortable. This all changed as soon as I put them on and took my first step. I’ve always imagined what it would feel like to walk on a cloud, and I think I’ve gotten pretty close with the Tree Breezer.  I love how the flexibility of the shoes allows it to adapt to my movements and helps keep my feet stay cool throughout the day. I also love that it’s machine washable and more importantly leaves a low carbon footprint on the earth. As someone who is trying to learn how to live a more sustainable life, I really appreciate brands like Allbirds who are making sustainable products attainable to consumers like me. I do recommend getting them a half size up, because they run a bit snug.
