Trying the Polka Dot Dress Trend

Whenever I think of polka dots, I automatically think of the movie Pretty Woman. Do you know that scene where Julia Robert’s character wears a midi brown dress with white polka dots to attend Richard Gere’s character’s work function/picnic? Yes, that scene. I’ve always wanted a dress like that, and since the polka dot trend seems to be everytwhere, I went ahead and purchased one for myself.

I really love the style of this dress and ruffle detailing on the bottom. I also love that it’s black and white. The images on their website made it look like the dress would be a bit of a body hugger. When I received it, it was pretty loose, which I didn’t mind but I would have liked it to have been a bit tighter. I tried to add a belt to the waist to give it less of a loose top, but the high hem made it look weird and it just didn’t work. I opted to leave it as is, and pairing the dress with simples and minimal accesories.

I love this look! It’s so comfortable, romantic and very effortless. I received quite a few compliments while shooting this outfit early in the morning in Brooklyn from people rushing to get to work and others walking their dogs. It’s such a simple dress but the polka dots add a layer of interest to it which is why I think it’s trending so much these days. I just received another polka dot dress which I can’t wait to shoot and show you!
