I simply LOVE wearing maxi dresses in the fall. Well anytime really, but especially in the fall. Can you guess why? It might have something to do with the fact that I can layer the hell out of them without anyone knowing or vice versa. That’s right, you can’t tell in these images, but I am fully layered beneath these maxi dresses.
I received both of these dresses from my monthly Nuuly subscription (I wrote about Nuuly HERE). I choose them for the sole purpose of creating some fun fall looks out of them. The first dress is the Elizabeth Shirtless dress from Anthropologie. I really loved how it looked online but not so much in person. It runs a little big and is a bit itchy. I still managed to wear it out on a few occasions and received lots of compliments. The second dress is the Mountain Views Maxi dress from Ne Quittez Pas. I really love the color and h
Alright enough with the dresses and onto why I actually love wearing maxi dresses in the fall. To start, I love the ability to layer them whether it’s underneath or on top, you can’t really go wrong with either option. For me, I decided to go with layering from the inside. I’m actually wearing a pair of jeans and a long-sleeved shirt underneath these dresses. I also love that you can easily throw on a pair of boots and instantly be Fall ready.
Other things you can do to make maxi dresses work in the fall include (don’t be afraid to combine some of these) :
- Throwing on your fall or winter coat
- Wearing a thick turtle neck underneath
- Wearing a knitted sweater over it
- Wearing a blazer
- Cozying up with a chunky scarf or poncho
- Wearing it with a fur jacket and sneakers
