PETITE MARIE NYC

How to Dress During the In-Between Summer and Fall Season

Animal Print Slip Dress

It’s currently fashion week in New York City, and of course, I’m not attending any shows. To be honest, I’m still struggling to organize myself when it comes to blogging. I could’ve probably attended a few shows if I reached out to brands but I didn’t. Other than my lack of organization, one of the main reason has also been because I’ve been auditioning for a lot of Film and TV lately. All the NYC shows are currently shooting and I really want to save my energy for auditions. It’s one of my goals to book at least one more gig before the end of the year and I’m working really hard at giving my all when I’m invited to an audition. I was actually on hold(when it’s being decided between you and maybe one to two other actors) for a new CBS show last week but found out that the creative team went another direction. This is a norm in the business and a big win for an actor, but it can feel like a huge rejection when you don’t actually get the role. So I’m trying to keep the momentum alive. While all that is happening, I managed to hook up with Lovestitch for another look book (You can view my first look-book with Lovestitch HERE). With the weather being that weird in-between summer and fall, I got some items that would work for both, and they all happened to be animal print!

This was the first item that stood out to me! The Carolina Snakeskin Print Midi Dress. I love slip dresses, and they work very well for layering, like I did in these images. I simply wore a sweater under it with a pair of boots. You could just as easily wear a tee underneath or wear a jacket over the dress.

Of course, I also had to get the skirt version with the Rue Snakeskin Print Skirt. I paired it with their Lyla Super Soft Tank, a white cardigan, a hat and a pair of Keds. It’s a very casual look and yet still very chic and you can throw on the cardigan if it gets a little chilly.

I also went for this Lynn Animal Print Buttondown. It’s a very versatile top that can be tucked in or worn as a tunic. It can also be worn as a short-sleeve or long-sleeved shirt. I pairedt it with some Levi’s high-waisted jeans and of course animal print heels from Zara. I got both of those items at thrifth stores btw!

Lastly, we have the Bara Mini Dress. I’m not quite sure what animal print this dress was inspired by but I don’t care. It’s a very playful dress and the details are beautiful. My favorite detail has to be the ruched tie sleeve. I wore it to an event a few weeks ago and received a lot of compliments. I paired it with my A.S.98 boots and a bag I got from a thrift store years ago.

This time of year is my favorite time. It’s not too hot or too cold, it’s just the perfect balance. Let me know if you liked the way I styled these animal print looks for the in-between season!
